Successful PRO-MOTE Online Inclusive Job Fair Brings Employers and Jobseekers Together Across Europe

On 23 January 2026, the PRO-MOTE project team successfully organised the Online Inclusive Job Fair: “How to Enter the Job Market”, bringing together migrants, refugees, jobseekers, employers, and employment support organisations from across Europe. The online event, hosted via Zoom, attracted a diverse international audience and provided practical, hands-on insights into accessing the European labour market

The event was opened by Institute for Creative Education (IKO), Lead Partner of the PRO-MOTE project, with a short introduction outlining the project’s objectives and the importance of inclusive employment pathways for migrants and refugees.

Employers’ Perspectives on Inclusive Recruitment

The first part of the event featured an Employer Perspective Panel, where representatives from different sectors shared real-life recruitment experiences, current labour market needs, and inclusive hiring practices. Speakers included:

  • Mövenpick Hotel & Residences Kvarner Bay, sharing a recruitment case study from the hospitality sector
  • IKEA Retail Poland, presenting their approach to inclusive employment and refugee hiring
  • Diakonie Burgenlad, outlining labour market opportunities for people working in care sector and skill shortages in Austria

The panel provided participants with valuable insights into open positions, skills in demand, recruitment processes, and employer expectations across different countries and industries.

Practical Breakout Sessions for Jobseekers

Following the panel, participants joined interactive breakout rooms tailored to specific job-search topics and national contexts. These sessions focused on practical skills and concrete next steps, including:

  • CV and LinkedIn profile preparation for European labour markets
  • Job interview preparation, common mistakes, and employer expectations
  • Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs opportunities
  • Care sector employment opportunities in Austria
  • Job opportunities and requirements in Spain

The smaller group format enabled active participation, direct interaction with experts, and space for questions and personalised advice.

Key Takeaways

The event concluded with a wrap-up session highlighting key takeaways from the breakout rooms and presenting next steps, including access to job opportunity resources and further PRO-MOTE activities. Participants left the event better informed, more confident, and equipped with practical tools to support their job search or recruitment efforts.

The Online Inclusive Job Fair confirmed the strong need for accessible, practical, and employer-focused online events that connect migrants and refugees with real job opportunities across Europe. The PRO-MOTE partnership will continue building on this momentum through future events, resources, and cross-sector collaboration to promote inclusive labour market integration.
