Local Solidarity Workshop – Kraków, Poland | September 26–27, 2025
Last week, Kraków hosted a dynamic two-day event, “Boost Your Potential: Local Solidarity Workshops on Entrepreneurship and the Polish Labour Market”, organised by the Jagiellonian Centre for Migration Studies in collaboration with PRO-MOTE (Promoting Migrant Opportunities, Training and Employment).
The workshop was dedicated to migrants living in Poland who want to strengthen their professional and economic situation and navigate the local labour market with greater confidence. Over two inspiring days, participants took part in practical sessions, expert consultations, and networking opportunities, gaining valuable knowledge about entrepreneurship, employment, and self-development.

Day 1 – Entrepreneurship and Legal Foundations in Poland
The first day focused on entrepreneurship and the legal aspects of living and working in Poland. Participants explored how to start and manage a business, what legal requirements must be met, and how to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset.
The day included:
- An Open Consultation Point with institutions supporting migrants and entrepreneurs, organised as part of the Open Day of the Information Point for Foreigners.
- Workshops with experts, covering:
- Legal residence and setting up a business in Poland (led by a lawyer),
- Introduction to the Polish tax system for beginners,
- Building a personal brand and an entrepreneurial mindset.
This practical guidance provided participants with the competences, knowledge, and confidence to take the first steps toward establishing their own businesses or improving their professional paths in Poland.
Day 2 – Skills for the Labour Market
The second day highlighted practical employability skills and career development tools. Participants worked on their CVs and LinkedIn profiles, practiced job interviews and self-presentation, and reflected on their personal strengths in interactive workshops led by career counselors.
A special session was dedicated to artists and innovative entrepreneurs, offering insights into how to value creative work and navigate the Polish creative industry — a crucial topic for many participants working in the cultural and creative sectors.
The hands-on format encouraged open dialogue and exchange of experiences across cultures, creating an atmosphere of support, inspiration, and empowerment.

Creating Connections and Building Confidence
Throughout both days, participants not only gained practical tools but also built new professional networks, shared personal stories, and discovered their potential within a supportive, multicultural environment. The facilitators emphasised the importance of mutual learning and solidarity, ensuring that each participant left with actionable steps for their future career or business in Poland.
The workshops achieved key goals of the PRO-MOTE project:
- Explaining essential aspects of entrepreneurship, law, and taxes in Poland,
- Providing practical employability skills for the local job market,
- Supporting personal development and self-confidence,
Creating a space for networking and cultural exchange.
